I think many commentators on this topic of the downed F15 got it wrong on how the jets got shot down, fighters when they get light up by acquisition radars warning signs start to go on inside the jets, they know where it comes from, what type what kind of radar is lighting them up if its friendly and who it belongs to, all this will be shown to the pilot to make evasive maneuvers or at least if the acquisition radar is friendly, these broadcasts will be picked up by everyone listening in because then the fighter is not silent, so somebody or many would have picked up the distress calls, we havent heard any of that, it means the targeting of the jets were not by radar homing missiles, also another evidence is, the warhead hitting the jets were very small, more like MANPADs, not from a Patriot missile 150 kg warhead, more like a five kg warhead, it was a infrared homing small missile, thats why the jets never got any warning, we also saw the jets were flying relatively close to the ground when it was hit, I think the Iranians were close to the airfield with MANPADS waiting for the jets to get close to hit them, another piece of evidence is, when a MANPAD is fired, it gets quickly up to speak then the rocket motor shuts off and the missile flies at at MACH two with no smoke trail almost invisible relying only on the speed it picked up when fired of, this is what we also saw when the jets got hit, no smoke trail from a large solid rocket motor, they were shot down by MANPADs at close range a few kilometers or so thats what I think happened.
